Your dental health affects your overall health , especially when it comes to periodontal disease.

Periodontal disease is an infection of the gums and bone that surrounds your teeth.  It is caused by bacteria in plaque that have toxins that infect the gum tissue.  This can lead to the loss of teeth as well as other health problems.

The chronic infection of periodontal disease in your mouth creates an open doorway for bacteria to enter your bloodstream.  This can lead to heart disease, respiratory disease, pneumonia, and diabetes.

Keeping your mouth healthy is an important part of keeping yourself in good health.  While periodontal disease has no cure, with regular dental visits we can manage the disease, helping to keep your smile healthy.
